TPO Systems

Thermoplastic olefin (TPO) roofing systems are a common type of single-ply roofing membrane often used on flat and low slope roofing. TPO roofing systems can be applied fully adhered, mechanically fastened or ballasted. TPO roofing is then heat welded to close the seams.

TPO roofing is measured against ASTM D6878, a standard which regulates the manufacture of TPO sheets to meet certain fire-, UV- and weather-proofing benchmarks. TPO roofing systems are almost never coated with any type of surfacing, as TPO systems are relatively weather- and fire-proof.

Here are some benefits of TPO roofing systems:

  • Energy efficiency savings

TPO roofing systems meet—and in some cases, exceed—many energy efficiency guidelines, such as the EPA’s Energy Star program and the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED v4 certification. All color varieties of commercial TPO roofing are considered ”cool roofing.” This means they reflect UV radiation and resist temperature change, keeping your building comfortable and your utility bills low. White TPO systems, in particular, provide exceptional UV- and heat-resistance, which promotes the energy efficiency of your entire facility.
  • Effective roofing protection

Commercial TPO roofing is notable for its effectiveness at protecting your facility from leaks, high and low temperatures and wind. In comparison with some other kinds of thermoplastic membranes, TPO roofing systems are also relatively mold- and dirt-resistant. TPO roofing also resists punctures and tears, keeping your building leak-free.
